Reading the new colour tiers at Excellent Sauna

Before opening on 1 September the service board came off the wall in our lounge and a new one went up. The tiers no longer carry names. They carry colours: green, white, silver, purple, yellow, gold, black, and then two squares side by side at the top. A guest standing in front of it for the first time can see the colours perfectly well and still not see what they stand for. This piece reads the board out loud.

What changed, and what did not

Only the labelling changed. The Excellent Sauna opens daily at 12:00 and closes at 04:00, when the floor is cleared; we do not offer overnight stays. Our therapists are on duty for the same hours the house is open, so a midday arrival is a fully staffed arrival. The day the colours went up, neither the opening hour nor the closing hour moved by a minute, and the treatments themselves are the same ones.

The shape is easier to hold than the colours

The lowest tier is the Authentic Health Massage, and it is the only 90-minute treatment on the whole board. Everything above it is grouped as Gentle Massage, climbing from green through white, silver, purple, yellow, gold and black, with two squares side by side at the top. Every Gentle Massage colour runs 60 minutes, so climbing the board buys technique and character rather than a longer session.

To put it plainly: the stretches on the new board line up with the way the old one divided things — the opening squares, the middle of the climb and the stretch above it are in exactly the same order as before, and only the labelling changed. We publish the tiers as tiers and never attach a country or a region to a price or a grade; which square carries which technique, and who is on that day, is something our staff will go through with you square by square when you book.

Current as of September 2026, the figures run like this: Authentic Health Massage MOP 1,988 for 90 minutes; Gentle Massage opens at MOP 2,988, the green-white-silver stretch reaching MOP 3,788, the purple-yellow-gold stretch running MOP 3,988 to MOP 4,388, and black with the top step running MOP 5,088 to MOP 5,588, each 60 minutes. The board price is the final bill — the 5% service charge and the 5% tourism tax are already inside it, and nothing is added at the till.

Two items sit outside that ladder in the September 2026 board: the Sauna Spa on its own at MOP 1,299, which is both the bath hall without any massage treatment and the minimum spend — take no massage package and this is what you settle, and the add-on services at MOP 288 each for about 20 minutes, eight of them to choose from.

Two pairs share a price, and that is the point

The easiest thing to misread is left-to-right as low-to-high. In two places it is not. White and silver are printed at the same price. So are the two squares at the top. A shared price is not a rank: it is one level offering two characters. If you have been wondering whether you picked the weaker half of a pair, there is no weaker half to pick.

The top pair is worth one more sentence. Two squares stand together at the top of the board at the same price, neither above the other, and the choice between them is a question of the hands you want — ask on arrival who is on that day.

The hour is the therapist’s hour

The 60 or 90 minutes printed on the board begins when your therapist begins. Changing, the bath hall, sitting down for the briefing on who is on duty, the walk to the room: none of that runs against it. Within our opening hours, that earlier stretch of the evening is yours to spend as slowly as you like.

One sentence, and we take it from there

We can say exactly what sits behind each colour. It simply is not printed on the board. The order on the day is easy too. Our staff run through the day’s line-up first, the colour is settled after that, and the two complimentary add-on services that come with booking through this site are picked last, on the spot. Are the colours just the old names in new clothing?

Every square corresponds to something that was there before; the board simply chose colour over wording, and the stretches above set out which character sits where. For what a particular square is like on your date, ask us when you book and we will go through them one at a time.

Is silver above white?

Neither is above the other. They carry the same price and belong to the same level, and what separates them is character rather than rank.

Do I need to choose a colour before I travel?
