Any Room Tonight? Mid-Autumn 12:00-04:00 Daily

Pool and spa area at The Excellent Sauna, marble surround with an evening city view

At half past eleven on the night after last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, Mr. Wong stood at the front desk of The Excellent Sauna, in the main building of the Grand Emperor Hotel, his jacket still carrying the wine of a long Mid-Autumn dinner. Three hours earlier he had been raising his glass through a relay of toasts; now he wanted one place where nobody expected him to speak — and among Macau sauna addresses, The Excellent was one of the few he knew would still be lit at that hour. His first words to the receptionist: “Any room tonight?” There was. All four days of that holiday ran the normal schedule, doors at 12:00 noon, close at 04:00, and a 23:30 arrival still left him a full four and a half hours.

Later that night the receptionist talked him through the four-day rhythm. Mid-Autumn night itself was the tightest: guests whose dinners broke up early — or who, like him, slipped out early — began arriving in waves from nine, and the evening hours filled first. The day he came, a public holiday, stayed busy from mid-afternoon until deep into the night; his “any room?” was answered by late luck. Sunday belonged mostly to visitors on the mainland break, in by day and leaving by evening, so the small hours turned quiet. And on the compensatory Monday, arrivals thinned out — the calmest of the four days. Had he come one day later, he would never have needed to ask. This year that luck can be skipped altogether: book through this site before you set out, and we prioritize your arrival, with the timing and the transfer planned in advance.

As for this year’s dates: Mid-Autumn 2026 falls on Friday 25 September; per the Macao SAR Government’s 2026 public-holiday calendar, Saturday 26 September is the day-after holiday and Monday 28 September the compensatory day off, making a four-day weekend with the Sunday in between, while the mainland break runs 25-27 September. The house confirmed in August 2026: all four days run as usual, 12:00-04:00 daily, no early closing and no extension; the paid private rest rooms and the free lounge rest area stay open within opening hours only, and there is no overnight stay.

More than the hours stay the same

What Mr. Wong actually remembered from that night was not the answer at the desk but the four and a half hours that followed. The Excellent’s signature is its new Japanese-theme rooms: DJ room, office, cinema, hospital and cosplay settings are all on the floor, and any Lady Spa series can move into a scenario room on request — a pick-your-own-scene approach that, among Macau saunas, is very much this house’s own. The therapist line-up is multinational and works the same 12:00-04:00 day as the house itself, so a late arrival still gets the full menu; and dining is included in the package price — steak, seafood, fried rice, noodle soup, sandwiches — hot food even after midnight.

The day-by-day table, for this year’s Mr. Wongs

What the holiday changes is not the hours — it is who walks through the door. Last year’s rhythm will very likely repeat:

DateHolidayHoursBooking note
Fri 25 SeptMid-Autumn12:00–04:00Evening fills first — book 2-3 days ahead
Sat 26 SeptMacau holiday12:00–04:00Busy all day — message ahead
Sun 27 SeptMainland day 312:00–04:00Late night turns quiet
Mon 28 SeptMacau day off12:00–04:00Calmest — same-day OK

Hours in the table are the holiday arrangement confirmed by the house in August 2026; holiday dates are as published by the Macao SAR Government. To be spared Mr. Wong’s moment of suspense on the night of 25 September, a message two or three days ahead is all it takes — we arrange the rest.

Prices fit in one sentence: the current September 2026 menu shows grouped bands only — Authentic Wellness Massage MOP 1,988, the popular Gentle Massage (green, white, silver) 2,988–3,788, Gentle Massage (purple, yellow, gold) 3,988–4,388, Gentle Massage (black and the top step) 5,088–5,588, every figure already including 5% tourism tax and 5% service charge, unchanged over the holiday — with full detail on the price guide and each series described under programme.

Holiday perks when booking through this site

The taxi Mr. Wong finally caught outside the hotel at four in the morning took a long wait. Booking through this site removes that leg: a free private transfer anywhere in Macau, with the return run taking you straight to your hotel, the airport or the ferry terminal after closing — a day’s notice keeps it unhurried, though same-day requests can be arranged. The same site booking also waives the entrance fee and includes two free add-on services of your choice (back scrub, foot massage, head massage, ear cleaning — two of eight options), all as arranged in September 2026. See book now for how it works, and getting there for a first visit.

Frequently asked

Arriving at 23:30 like Mr. Wong — is that too late?

No. All four days run until 04:00. But on the peak nights of 25 and 26 September the rooms may be gone by then — a message a few days ahead beats trusting your luck.

The dinner ran late — can I stay overnight?

No. The house clears at closing; the paid private rest rooms and the free lounge rest area are available within opening hours, and even the latest departure is 04:00.

Do prices go up over the holiday?

No. The bands match the current September 2026 menu, and every figure already includes 5% tourism tax and 5% service charge — nothing is added at the till. More detail is under questions and answers.

When should I book for Mid-Autumn night itself?

The evening of 25 September fills first — message two or three days ahead. Monday 28 September is the calmest day, and a same-day message can usually still be arranged.

That walk at four in the morning — neon mirrored on the pavement, a street quiet enough to hear your own footsteps, the moon not yet down (illustrative image)

At four in the morning last year, Mr. Wong walked out of the Grand Emperor Hotel with the last group of guests, the street quiet enough to hear his own footsteps, the moon still hanging overhead. Those four and a half hours, he said later, felt more like a festival than the dinner did. Under the same moon this year, the doors open at 12:00 noon and close at 04:00, as always. All times and prices above were verified with the house in August 2026; should anything change, the venue’s notice on the day prevails, and we confirm every item with you before you book. Message us any time — we reply late into the night.
