Halloween weekend starts Friday: The Excellent Sauna

It is Friday 30 October, a little before eight in the evening. The shops along San Ma Lo still have their lights on, people leaving work drift off under the arcades in every direction, and in a few hours the calendar turns over to Halloween. If you would like to keep the first night of the Halloween weekend for yourself, The Excellent Sauna in Macau is open as usual tonight, and if you let us know beforehand, a car will be waiting for you downstairs.

Grand Emperor Hotel, main building

You will find The Excellent Sauna up on the 10th floor of the Grand Emperor Hotel’s main building, not far from the San Ma Lo area. The bath zone has a large square pool, with blue light lines running across the ceiling to a row of recliners at its edge. The locker room is lined with wooden lockers, with long deep-red benches down the middle.

Opening hours are 12:00 to 04:00, and there are no overnight stays. The therapists’ shift is also 12:00 to 04:00. Counting from eight in the evening, the night still has eight hours in it, so the bath, the massage and the rest that follows never need to be rushed.

The day’s line-up

At The Excellent Sauna, an attendant introduces the day’s line-up of therapists and the tiers in person. The team is multinational, and you decide after hearing the introduction, so nothing has to be chosen before you set out. Our one suggestion: if you already lean towards a particular series, simply mention it. For a change of atmosphere, the venue also has scenario theme rooms, which can be added to your massage as an extra. A first visit needs no homework either, because the introduction covers how the day works.

Private massage room

The hour in the private massage room is just you and your therapist, and the lounge comes after. We will not spell out what happens in the room. That is for your Friday night, and friends who have been say the hour stays with them a long while.

Rest lounge and dining booths

The rest lounge has a row of recliners that you can use throughout opening hours, and it is the place to lie back after your massage. The dining booths are right next to it, and hot food is served for as long as the venue is open. It is covered by the massage package you choose, with nothing charged on top. The price board

In the prices published in September 2026, massages start from Authentic Wellness Massage at MOP 1,988 (90 minutes), and the top tier is MOP 5,588 (60 minutes). The 5% service charge and the 5% tourism tax are already included, so the listed price is what you pay. Prices follow what The Excellent Sauna posts on the day, and before you set out, the prices reach you along with our reply.

Booking through us comes with two free extras. The first is a private car, which can pick you up wherever you are staying in Macau, with your ride home also arranged in advance. The second is 2 add-on services, done after your massage by a different masseuse on a recliner in the rest lounge, and you pick which two once you are lying there. Before you go

If I only arrive on Friday evening, is there still food at the booths?

Yes. Seafood, fried noodles, soups and sandwiches are on all night, so arriving on Friday evening is no problem.

Can I pay with WeChat Pay?

Yes, the venue takes cash, cards, WeChat Pay and Alipay.

San Ma Lo after midnight

After midnight, the shops on San Ma Lo have pulled their shutters down, the arcades are lit only by the street lamps, and Friday has turned into Saturday. The Halloween weekend began with this night.
